Consolidated High School (Camden Point): Erected 1920 – J.H. Felt & Co. – Architects J.H. Felt (1867-1938) an architect who designed many buildings across Kansas and Missouri. He formed J.H. Felt & Company in St. Joseph in 1898, and eventually moved to Kansas City. He designed the administration buildings at Northwest Missouri State University, Emporia State University, and the Boone County Courthouse. In 1904 he was the publisher of the Modern Architecture magazine. The school later burned in 1958, and only the foundation (and corner stone) of the former building can be seen at the present day elementary school. For years the corner stone lay in a ravine until it was moved.

The Camden Point Female Academy location in Camden Point. At one time, a large brick structure stood here that housed the female orphan school, which burned twice and was rebuilt each time. A third building was constructed in 1890, when the school became a junior college accredited by the University of Missouri. The school closed in the 1930s, and was demolished for salvage sometime around the 1940s.

The following list of Platte County Schools was gleaned from records obtained from LaVerne Taulbee and from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Field Operations, Bureau of Soils report dated 1911 supplied to the Platte County Historical Society by member Joy Ryckman. If you have any other photographs of Platte County School buildings, students or activities, please scan and forward to:
